Patient Stories
These are honest and candid stories told my Breast Cancer Support Fund Recipients.
We thank them for their bravery.

"

My mom has grown as a person ... and found strength she did not know she had."

- Amelia, daughter of Nina

When Amelia’s mom, Nina, was diagnosed with breast cancer, Amelia was just 16. In this emotional video, Amelia speaks about what it felt like to watch her mother go through treatment while still trying to care for the family. She reflects on the emotional weight of the experience — the fear, the strength, and the small moments of resilience they held onto as a family. Through her eyes, we see how a cancer diagnosis impacts more than just the patient — it touches everyone around them. Thanks to the Breast Cancer Support Fund, Amelia and her family were able to get the help they needed during a time of deep uncertainty.

"

I  can't afford to have breast cancer."

- Bibi, BCSF recipient

When Bibi was diagnosed with breast cancer, she faced a storm of physical, emotional, and financial challenges. In her story, Bibi speaks with honesty about the moments that felt overwhelming — from navigating treatment to caring for her family to protecting her mental health. She reflects on the pressure to stay strong, even when things were falling apart. The support Bibi received from the Breast Cancer Support Fund gave her the breathing room she needed to focus on recovery. Her story is a reminder that behind every brave face is someone carrying a heavy load — and that support, in every form, truly matters.

"

I worry about my children, I have been so diligent in trying to create kind, thoughtful, considerate human beings who are confident and I worry about who is going to love them the way I do when I am not here."

- Nina, BCSF Recipient

Nina is a single mom who was diagnosed with breast cancer while raising her teenage daughter, Amelia. In this heartfelt video, Nina shares the fear, the pressure, and the pain of going through treatment while trying to keep life as normal as possible for her child. She speaks about the emotional burden of cancer, the moments she hid her tears, and the strength it took to keep going. Nina also shares how support from the Breast Cancer Support Fund helped ease the financial stress and allowed her to focus on healing. Her story is a powerful example of courage, motherhood, and why compassionate support matters.
