Women Running Outdoors

March 8th is INTERNATIONAL WOMEN"S DAY and I wanted to do something special to honour my daughter, so I am asking you to help me celebrate women supporting women by raising funds in honour of my daughter.

Listening to my daughter deliver her breast cancer diagnosis to me, over the phone, was a ‘gut-punch’ moment of my life, and one that I will never forget. I had already lost my father and my husband (her father) to cancer, and now it was coming for my daughter? “Don’t worry Mom”, I remember her saying, through my tears, “Not many women die from breast cancer anymore”

My beautiful, courageous and fiercely independent daughter navigated her treatment regime through the height of the pandemic, with relatively little disruption to her physical and emotional self.

Today, there is no evidence of cancer, and recently, to help prevent lymphedema, she has started running again and training for half-marathon runs. I am so proud and inspired by her bravery and resilience!

International Women’s Day will be observed on March 8, 2023, and as a tribute to my hero, and the strongest woman I know, I invite you to join me today, in supporting the Breast Cancer Support Fund, a Canadian charitable organization that embodies the ideology of ‘women helping women’.
